Mrs. Altman

I am a mother of two beautiful girls and have been homeschooling them since Kindergarten. I graduated from ETSU with a Masters in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for 15+ years. I absolutely love creating lesson plans that will engage students and create a fun learning environment!

When I am not teaching I am on my mini farm, The Doodle Patch, taking care of my animals and plants. I also love to read, drink coffee, camp, and be at home with my family. I am a member of Boones Creek Christian Church. It is very important to me to have God and His Word in every aspect of learning. How can we truly learn about this world without learning about its Creator?

The one room school house is and has been my dream since I was a little girl. I am so thankful God as allowed us to serve our homeschooling community with such a special ministry.

A Little About Me...

My name is Carrie Ford. I live in Johnson City with my husband and two boys. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education obtained from East Tennessee State University. I have taught for over 10 years in private preschools and also in the federal Head Start programs in Nashville and Cookeville, Tennessee. I also have experience teaching in multi-age classrooms in Kingsport City Schools. I believe in play-based learning and learning through hands-on activities. I also believe in exploring nature and seeing the beautiful world God has created for us. I am fairly new to the homeschooling world but absolutely love it!

Other Fun Things...

I love cooking and being in the kitchen. I like trying new recipes and seeing what I can come up with. I also love to crochet. I always have a few projects being worked on! Reading is a fun hobby for me too, when I take the time to do it. My family and I love to go camping in our camper and spending time outdoors. I love working with my hands and I am always game for a DIY project. My favorite color is pink. I love to drink coffee. I love sweets and desserts but my favorite is chocolate!
