Here is some more information about our school.
Our cottage school is modeled like a one-room schoolhouse. Most of our curriculum is Charlotte Mason based but we also pull from other theorists and our own, personal teaching styles.
We focus on life skills such as:
-cooking
-handicrafts
-gardening
-agriculture and more
During formal lesson time we cover:
-handwriting (print and cursive)
-reading
-science
-geography
-language arts
-social studies and more
Other areas of study include:
-hymn study
-scripture
-artist study
-author study
-composer study and more
We spend alot of time outside in nature as well. We also have a few, optional, field trips throughout the year. We currently have 25 students, ages 5-13. We meet in a church building in Johnson City. School days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Drop off is at 9:30 and pick up is at 2:30. Our year is divided into 2 semesters. Tuition is prepaid by the semester. Current tuition is $1500 per semester. Additional siblings get a $200 discount per year. We meet 60 days out of the required 180 days of homeschooling. It is the responsibility of the parents to meet the remaining requirements for the state of Tennessee and/or your umbrella school. Our yearly calendar can be found here. We supply all materials needed, including a snack. The students only have to pack a lunch.
