Mrs. Altman To All Instructors

 A Little About Me...

My name is Karen Altman. I am a homeschooling mama of 2 sweet girls, Lelia and Addie. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Ed. and a master's degree in Elementary Ed. I have taught preschool for 10 plus years, and also worked with  elementary age children in Johnson City Schools for 4 years. I began homeschooling when my oldest started Kindergarten, and she is now going into the 8th grade! I absolutely love teaching children. I like to include a lot of Charlotte Mason methods in my teaching such as hands on learning, nature study, and slower paced learning. I also believe it is very important to include God's word into school lessons. God created this world and our wonderful children, so it only makes sense to put our focus on Him when we are learning about His world.

Other Fun Things...

I love gardening and homesteading. My dream is to one day have a farm full of livestock. Being outside makes me very happy! I also love to read. I always have a book nearby. Another hobby I enjoy is playing and listening to music. I began playing banjo as a child. I am now currently learning piano. I love music of all kinds. As a family, we enjoy hiking and camping. Often in the summer you will find me either digging in my garden barefoot or laying in my hammock reading. My favorite colors are blue, green, and pink. My favorite sweets are chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. I am a coffee addict for sure, but also enjoy a cup of herbal tea any time.
